With a worldwide network of about 60,000 professionals, IMA® is the association dedicated to empowering accountants and financial professionals in business to become “trusted business advisors” by playing an active role in their organization’s business success. IMA provides a dynamic forum for professionals to advance their careers through certification (CMA®), professional education, networking, and advocacy of the highest ethical and professional standards.
IMA’s members are today's leaders and decision makers in management accounting and finance. Members represent organizations of all sizes and structure, including family-run businesses, private firms, not-for-profit organizations, government and academic institutions, small and large publicly-traded companies, and multi-national corporations.
These professionals are involved in designing and evaluating business processes, budgeting and forecasting, implementing and monitoring internal controls, and analyzing, synthesizing, and aggregating information—to help drive economic value. IMA members work at the “beginning” of the value chain, supporting decision making, planning and control across multiple industries.
IMA members are predominantly accountants, corporate and divisional controllers, CPAs, treasurers, and mid to upper management executives in managerial finance and accounting. Approximately one third of IMA members are Certified Management Accountants (CMA®). The CMA designation represents an advanced mastery of the comprehensive management skills required to add leadership value, build quality financial practices, and achieve organizational success.
IMA members pay dues annually which entitle them to receive 12 issues of Strategic Finance magazine (circulation 53,324), professional development offerings, networking, the latest research and industry trends, a career center and more. As key decision-makers within their organizations, they need a wide array of financial- and business-related products and services.
