Founded in 1973, the Society of Interventional Radiology is the premier national organization dedicated to improving public health through disease management and minimally invasive therapeutic interventions.
SIR members consist of physicians and allied health professionals such as technologists, nurses, nurse practitioners and physician assistants involved in the treatment and diagnosis of disease. They treat an ever-expanding range of conditions with minimally invasive procedures, including various x-rays and imaging techniques (i.e., CT scanners, MRI scanners, ultrasound scanners) and small instruments or tools (i.e. catheter or wires).
Interventional radiology is continually evolving due to advances in medicine and technology. SIR members must stay current with a host of educational and medical products and services in order to deliver the highest quality of patient care.
