Founded in 1947, the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) is the world’s largest medical specialty organization exclusively serving family physicians, residents, and students. AAFP is dedicated to promoting and maintaining the highest quality standards for family physicians, who provide continuing comprehensive health care to the public. Treating patients of all ages and both genders, AAFP members are trained in a broad spectrum of patient care including pediatrics, geriatrics, obstetrics, surgery, intensive care (ICU), critical care (CCU), and emergency room (ER).
AAFP members represent the most influential specialty group in the medical industry and have vast purchasing authority for a range of health care products and services. AAFP’s member influence is highlighted by the fact that 23% of all patient visits are made to family physicians.
